Q&A With Eli Brecher Nutrition
I am so excited to bring you our first ever Q&A blog post! There is no better way to start than with a Q&A with the wonderful Eli Brecher Nutrition! I have been a follower of Eli for a while on Instagram and this week we have collaborated and Eli has created us a delicious Vanilla Protein Porridge Recipe on Instagram (make sure to check it out!) So I thought it was only right to ask Eli a couple of questions too!
Interview with Eli Brecher, nutritionist-to-be, founder of www.elisgranola.co.uk and recipe developer @elibrechernutrition
1.Why did you choose to study nutrition?
Having grown up with Crohn’s (an autoimmune condition), I’ve always been aware that the food we eat has such a strong impact on how we feel. When I started university (studying languages), I was living a typical student lifestyle – late nights, too much alcohol, 4am pizzas! It took a toll on my health and sent me into a flare-up, so I knew I had to evaluate my diet and overhaul my lifestyle. I soon realised how a healthier lifestyle had such a positive impact on every aspect of my life, from digestion and energy levels, to mental clarity, mood and even relationships. By the time I graduated, I was desperate to dive deeper into the science of nutrition and felt both a desire and a responsibility to help others live a healthier and happier life through the food on their plate.
2.What is your go to healthy breakfast?
Anyone who follows me on Instagram @elibrechernutrition will know that breakfast is my favourite meal of the day! During the week, I love having protein porridge with lots of peanut butter, caramelised bananas and cinnamon, or a bowl of homemade granola with yoghurt and berries. On the weekends, I switch between pancakes, smoothie bowls and Shakshuka (baked eggs in tomato sauce) – I love experimenting with the endless options and I share my favourite recipes on my blog!
3.Do you have any advice on how to make eating healthier easier?
A lot of it comes down to having a positive mindset and a healthy relationship with food, so instead telling yourself you need to cut out various food groups or eat less sugar, reframe this by trying to cram as many nutrients into each meal as possible! Challenge yourself to try a new vegetable every week, have fun in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes, see how colourful you can make your plate!
4.Talk to us about Eli’s Granola! When did you start it and what inspired you? What is your favourite granola from your range?
I’ve been making my own granola for as long as I can remember. I grew up with lots of intolerances and there was very little available in the supermarkets! I started giving my granola as gifts to friends, in empty peanut butter tubs or little glass jars with a ribbon. They loved it and would always ask for more, so I soon set up my business, Eli’s Granola. The very first flavour I sold was Peanut Butter Granola and it’s still my favourite to this day! We all live such fast-paced lives but I’m on a mission to help people enjoy a nourishing breakfast while savouring a morning moment of calm.
5.What can we expect next from you?
I’m excited to eventually qualify as a Registered Nutritionist, but until then keep an eye on my Instagram as I’m a recipe developer, working alongside some amazing brands to create nourishing, indulgent and beautifully presented recipes. Get a taste of my recipes by ordering Eli’s Granola from www.elisgranola.co.uk.
